Description
The Banana
I used to sway content
In the warm sunlight
Listening to the whispers of the leaves
Wrenched from my brothers
Packed against strange bodies
In the dark.
A long journey
To somewhere alien
And savage
I saw the death
Skin ripped away
Don’t you hear the screams?
You picked me
From all the others
I was young and fresh and sweet.
But you were not hungry
Anymore.
And you forgot about me.
Yet watching you, I realize
I was not made
For your consumption.
It is only coincidence
That you enjoy my flesh.
I used to sway content
In the warm sunlight
Listening to the whispers of the leaves
Wrenched from my brothers
Packed against strange bodies
In the dark.
A long journey
To somewhere alien
And savage
I saw the death
Skin ripped away
Don’t you hear the screams?
You picked me
From all the others
I was young and fresh and sweet.
But you were not hungry
Anymore.
And you forgot about me.
Yet watching you, I realize
I was not made
For your consumption.
It is only coincidence
That you enjoy my flesh.
