Vanitas Selfie/Poem
Title
Vanitas Selfie/Poem
Description
If Only it Stopped
The watch freezes, a second in time
Sitting upon a wrist heedless, ignorant
And time moves on
A wonder of the world, a trinket of today
Proud of its abilities to amaze
Be wary, the clock ticks
Outside a playground, inside the shoes
Ragged with use, longing to be used again
But days go by
Beauty so enthralling, the book weeps with pages full
But seeming empty, each page smoother than one before
Everything is changing
Inequality, neglect, abandonment
Do you feel the pain?
It’s not slowing down for you
The watch freezes, a second in time
Sitting upon a wrist heedless, ignorant
And time moves on
A wonder of the world, a trinket of today
Proud of its abilities to amaze
Be wary, the clock ticks
Outside a playground, inside the shoes
Ragged with use, longing to be used again
But days go by
Beauty so enthralling, the book weeps with pages full
But seeming empty, each page smoother than one before
Everything is changing
Inequality, neglect, abandonment
Do you feel the pain?
It’s not slowing down for you
