Description
The Dead Leaf
A single leaf hanging off the side of a pot
Losing its beauty day by day
As it sits in plain view for all to see it rot
Yet its owner does not care for all he does is pray
Without a drop of care for the living in his blood
The leaf slowly withers away
Over time the dirt that was once mud
Has dried in the summer's heat like a brook
And without such a necessity it will not bud
All it can do is lean over and look
And it sees the man care about a text
And it wonders how could someone love a book?
This question has the plant vexed
Can someone love the dead and neglect the living?
Those who know this man are also perplexed
For this man is never in the mood of giving
And the plant knows that it will never be saved
But all the plant can do till death is keep forgiving
The plant knows it story will never be engraved
But all the plant truly wanted was for it to be craved
